Free Google ads for your fundraiser
Google Ad Grants gives eligible charities up to $10,000 a month in free ads on Google Search. BCUZ already advertises your fundraiser locally; these free ads can reach a much bigger area on top of that.
BCUZ can't apply for you: your organization applies to Google and owns the account. This page explains who qualifies and how to apply, based on Google's own rules.
Who qualifies
May qualify: a nonprofit charitable organization in good standing with its own 501(c)(3) status, for example a church, a youth sports league, a charity, or a PTO/PTA, booster club or school foundation that has its own 501(c)(3).
Not eligible (Google's rules): schools, academic institutions and universities themselves; government entities; hospitals and healthcare organizations. (Google has a separate program for schools: Google for Education.)
How to apply
- Sign up for Google for Nonprofits at google.com/nonprofits. Google checks your nonprofit status through its verification partner. Use an email you'll keep.
- Once approved, activate Ad Grants in your Google for Nonprofits account ("Activate products"). Use the same email for both.
- Have a website of your own, on a web address your group owns (for example yourpto.org, not a page on the school district's site), secure (https), with real content: your mission, what you do, your address and EIN. Google ads must lead to your own website, so add a page about your fundraiser night that explains how the money helps your group, with a link to your BCUZ menu link.
- After approval, set up your first ad campaign. Google's rules to keep the grant include: at least a 5% click rate each month, tracking at least 1 conversion a month on your website (for example an email sign-up or a click to order), automatic conversion-based bidding, at least 2 sitelinks, and ads shown only where your supporters are.
